Agnes m. Peter Wallace 1861, at Ednam; John may have m. Isabella Turnbull 1871, at Kelso:
Dorothy m. James Denholm 1868, at Makerston; Adam may have m. Helen Paton 1874, at Kelso;

Dr. Kenneth Nichol is a descendant of Jane Gibson. Ken lives at Kelso, Scotland. He is/was a member of Council of the Borders Family History Society.
Agnes Gray [ Mother in-Law] was living in Smailholm with the Whillans family at the time of the 1881 census. Agnes Gray died 16 March 1886, 76 years, at Smailholm; Robert Gibson, son in law, the informant.
At the 1841 census, living at Newtonlees, Parish of Ednam, were: Robert Gray, 35, Ag Lab;
Agnes 30; Agnes 4; John 2; Dorothy 2mo; and female servant Barbara Leitch 20. All were born in Roxburgh County except for Robert [Dunse, Berwick].
All born, clearly to Samuel Wright and Helen Shiel were Robert 1806, Agnes 1808, Margaret 1810,
our Alison chr. 16 June 1814 and born 10 May 1814 at Yetholm, Samuel 1816, Jessy 1819 and
George 1822. But also born in the same Parish were: "1812. Samuel Wright in Ednam and his wife Nelly Shiel had a son born 7th May and baptised 24th May named Thomas"; and "1814. June 6. Samuel Wright and Nelly Shiel had a dau born 13 May 1814 baptised named Alice".
Thomas would fit well into the Wright/Helen Shiel family sequence of births and if we accept that it must mean Alice and Alison are one and the same person. ???
