Photos Auchenloaning Cottage in Old Monkland
Andrew Mitchell was born in Auchenloaning Cottage in 1821.
Image of Auchenloaning Cottage supplied by David Crawford who wrote:
“On doing some internet research, I noticed your 3 times great grandfather (Andrew Mitchell) was born at Auchenloaning Cottage, Old Monkland. By coincidence, my 2 times great grandfather (Thomas Crawford b1859, d1934) and Great Grandmother Jane Burley Crawford (b1883, d1926) also lived at one of the Auchenloaning Cottages.
My father who is now 78 has a photo of one of the cottages (See attached file) - thought you might be interested. In the picture is my Great Grandmother (Helen Gilbert who married Daniel Crawford) in the black dress. I am not sure who the other two are.”Andrew Mitchell and Betsy Brown

This photo is held by Bruce Larkin (USA) who is a descendant of Andrew Mitchell and Betsy Brown by their daughter Isabella Mitchell Thomson. The photo had ended up with Bruce's mother. The reverse indicates it was sent by the Mitchells to their grand daughter Mrs Kennedy.
"For Mrs. Kennedy with best wishes. A & B Mitchell". My mother annotated the photo: "Parents of Isabella Mitchell Thomson -- Andrew and Bethia Mitchell."
