Photos Sign at one entrance to Blakerston Farm.
Blakerston Farm is part of St Bathans Estates - a 6000 acre farm originally owned by the Turnbull Family. Now it is a "game farm" raising about 80,000 pheasants each year for release in Britain and Europe for game hunting.
William (1825), Elisabeth (1829) and George (1831) Moffat were born here to George Moffat and Isabella Clark, presumably while George and/or Isabella worked on Blakerston Farm.

This cottage on Blakerston Farm is used by the head game keeper. He is the one responsible for raising 100,000 pheasants from 150,000 pheasant eggs each year.

This church on the St Bathans properties may have been the church attended by George Moffat and his family in the 1820s. The house visible in the distance was "the Laird's House".George Moffat and Isabella Paterson Family

Back of photo indicates it was taken in Dunse, Scotland by "D Davidson, Castle Street, Dunse The Dunse photographic Studio", and handwritten on back says "Moffat Family Scotland".
At first it was believed that this was Robert Moffat and Abigail Stoddart and family from New Zealand in Scotland for a visit. But this seems unlikely given what a trip from New Zealand to Scotland and return would have entailed in the 1890s and Dad's belief that the family were never very well off, so couldn't have afforded such a journey, and information from Dad and Uncle Bob both that World War 1 was the first time Grandad had been out of New Zealand.
It seems much more likely that it is Robert Moffat's cousin George Moffat and his family in Scotland.George Moffat and Isabella Paterson Family in Scotland - back of photo.
